Coffee, machine guns, an escape room and a movie.
The Nashville Astral Codex Ten meetup is doing the ACX Everywhere fall meetup as a full Saturday. Everyone's welcome, whether you've read every essay or none of them. Come for the whole day or just the part that sounds fun.
One day, four stops
We'll move as a group from one to the next. If you're only joining for part of it, RSVP and we'll text you where we are when it's your stop.
Coffee & the machine-gun range
Meet at Modern Warriors. Coffee first, then rentals on the range for anyone who wants to shoot. First-timers are fine; the staff walks you through everything.
Range fees: pay what you shootLunch
Somewhere nearby, decided by the group. Good moment to show up if the range isn't your thing.
Escape game
A room for the group. Headcount matters here, which is the main reason we ask you to RSVP.
Needs a headcountMovie, then the post-movie argument
We'll watch something together and then talk it over, which is historically the best part.
Exact times for lunch, the escape game and the movie get settled closer to the day and go out to everyone who RSVPs. About 7 regulars are coming already.

- Free to attend. You pay for what you shoot, eat and the escape room ticket.
- No reading required. Half of us haven't read the latest essay either.
- Come alone. Most people do the first time.
- Changing your mind is fine. Just reply to the group chat.
We meet regularly. Get a heads-up about the next one.
FAQ
What's ACX? Do I need to know anything?
Astral Codex Ten is Scott Alexander's blog. Twice a year readers in cities all over the world hold open meetups the same month. This is Nashville's. You don't need to have read anything; it's a social day with people who like arguing about ideas.
Do I have to shoot?
No. Plenty of people come for the coffee and skip the range, or arrive at lunch. The range is there for people who want to try it; staff handle instruction and safety.
How much does it cost?
Nothing to attend. The range charges by what you rent and shoot, lunch is on you, and escape rooms are usually $30–40 a person. The movie depends on where we end up.
Can I bring a friend / partner / kid / dog?
Friends and partners, yes. Kids are fine for lunch and the movie but not the range. Dogs: the range and the escape room won't allow them, so probably not this time.
What if I'm late or can't find you?
RSVP and you'll be in the group chat, which is where we post where we are. Otherwise email generalpurposeemail1@gmail.com.
What do you do with my email or phone number?
Only this: add you to the group chat if you asked, confirm the headcount, and tell you when the next meetup is if you ticked that box. Nothing is posted or shared.
Get a heads-up about the next one
Nashville ACX meets regularly: board game nights, dinners, reading groups, the occasional outing like this one. Leave an email or number and we'll message you when something's scheduled. If you RSVP'd above with the "future meetups" box ticked, you're already on it.
